The challenge
Reprocessing dental instruments is one of those procedures where the steps are not optional and the order matters. Miss a stage and you risk cross-contamination between patients. Yet it is often taught from a dense manual or a quick demonstration on a busy clinic day, which is not how anyone remembers a multi-step safety routine.
The brief for this sample project was to take a strict, regulated process and make it clear, visual and easy to follow, without losing any of the rigour the standards demand.
What we did
We opened with plain-language learning objectives so staff know exactly what they will be able to do, then used interactive hotspots to let them explore the instruments and equipment up close. From there the module walks through each stage of reprocessing in sequence, from pre-cleaning and rinsing to ultrasonic or manual cleaning, packaging and sterilisation, with the reasoning behind each step.
Knowledge checks along the way confirm understanding, and the content is mapped to the relevant Australian guidelines so a practice can use it with confidence.
The result
The module is built to give every member of the dental team the same reliable routine, so reprocessing is done the same correct way whoever is on shift. Making the sequence visual and interactive is designed to help it stick, which lowers the risk of a costly infection-control slip.
